Old Doors

Recently we visited Lukang.  It's one of the oldest cities in Taiwan and I really enjoyed it.  There were beautiful old temples, fun little shops, and little alley ways that wound around the city.  Right away I was drawn to the doors on the businesses and houses.  The paint was chipping off a lot of them and they  were just beautiful.  I enjoyed  seeing the different colors and designs.  I am not sure if the colors represent anything or if they just picked what they like.  Here are a few of my favorites.

This one wasn't actually old, just really cool.  It was on a newer temple.

I loved the lion door knocker.

This was on the gate of a very old temple.

Besides the old temple door, this is probably my favorite.

  3. What a great idea for a blog post! Really nice to pick out a single thing and compare from building to building! These doors definitely show lots of character and bet they've had many interesting people crossing through them!!
Thanks for sharing this with #myexpatfamily :)

  5. Beautiful photos! I have a thing for old doors too, and balconies. Mmm, maybe I should do a post on Italian balconies before we leave, if you don't mind me stealing your idea!

  8. Beautiful. And how interesting too. I love doors. We have a gorgeous stained glass windowed door that was here when we bought the house. I sometimes think the house would stay warmer if we replaced it but we can't bear to get rid of it! Great post! #MyExpatFamily
